Momos with Red Hot Chutney

    Salt ¼ tsp

    Maida 1 cup

    Oil 1 tbsp


    Salt – 1 tsp

    Eastern Pepper powder – ½ tsp

    Onion – 1 (chopped)

    Mushrooms – 6 (chopped)

    Green chilies – 2(chopped)

    Eastern Ginger garlic (paste) – 1 tsp

    Carrot – 1 large (chopped)

    Cabbage – 2 ½ cups (chopped)


    Soya sauce ½ tsp

    Red Chutney--

    Tomato 1 (large)

    Garlic flakes 5

    Red paprika 2 (large)

    Eastern Kashmiri chilli powder 1 tbsp

    Water (optional)

    Salt to taste

    Ginger Garlic Paste

    Kashmiri Chilli Powder

    Pepper Powder

  • Preparing Momos--

    1Sieve maida with salt.

    2Combine oil and knead the maida flour with water to make firm dough.

    3Heat oil in a pan add onions and mushrooms.

    4Sauté them two minutes till golden brown.

    5Combine ginger garlic paste, cabbage, carrot and green chilli.

    6Sauté the mixture for two minutes.

    7Add peppe, soya sauce, salt and vinegar

    8Switch off the flame.

    9Make small sized balls out of the dough.

    10Roll them into circular shaped puris.

    11Place 1 tbsp of filling in the center of the puri.

    12Make loose folds like frills from the side.

    13Close the frills from all the sides.

    14Combine each fold and frill in the center.

    15Give the momos a flattened shape.

    16Place each momo on a greased idli stand.

    17Lay the idli stand on a vessel filled a cup of water.

    18Steam the momos for twenty minutes over low flame.

    19Momos are ready.

    Preparing Red Chutney--

    1Cut tomatoes and red paprika into half.

    2Add galic cloves, salt and kashmiri chilli powder.

    3Add a liitle water if the consistency is too thick.

    4Blend all the ingredients.

    5Empty the chutney in a bowl.

    6Serve the delicious momos with red chutney.
