Kerala Style Beetroot Thoran
Thoran is a coconut-based vegetable Keralite dish. This common dish is usually eaten with steamed rice. Beetroot Thoran, Cabbage Thoran etc. are a common menu item for a sadhya.
Ingredients
- Grated Beetroot – 250g
- Small Onions – 2
- Garlic cloves – 2
- Green Chilly – 3
- Turmeric Powder – 1/4 tsp
- Grated Coconut – 1/2 Cup
- Mustard Seeds – 1 tsp
- Curry Leaves – as per requirement
- Dry Red Chilly – 2-3
- Coconut Oil – as per requirement
- Salt – as per requirement
- Coconut Oil
- Mustard
- Turmeric Powder
Directions
- Grate or chop finely the Beetroot.
- Chop the onions and green chilly.
- Mix well together with the above-chopped items, grated coconut, salt and turmeric powder.
- Heat oil in a pan and splutter mustard seeds and saute dry red chillies and curry leaves.
- Add the Beetroot-Coconut mixture to it and mix well.
